Support Local Families, Women and Children

Hi friends!

I became involved with Safe Passage a few years ago when a friend invited me to the Annual Violence Prevention breakfast. Safe Passage is a local non-profit which helps survivors of domestic and sexual violence, including abused children. They provide survivors with safe shelter, counseling and also advocate for them in court. They partner with many local agencies, including law enforcement and schools. All of these services are provided for free to the survivor. At this event, I was blown away by the frequency that their services are sought, and with numbers increasing every year. While all of the services that they provide are important to our community, a few numbers really stand out to me. Safe Passage worked with 376 child sexual abuse cases, 674 cases of domestic violence cases and 172 sexual assault cases.

The Annual Violence Prevention Breakfast is the largest fundraising event of the year for Safe Passage - unfortunately this event had to be canceled this year. At the same time, quarantine requirements have led to violence at home being more frequent, more severe and more dangerous.
